Classroom & Lab Assistant Pool-Arts, Media, and Social Sciences

The Classroom Assistant (CA) & Lab Assistant is a part-time, 19-hour-or-less per week position that provides support to the course instructor to ensure the effective delivery of the required materials and to foster a positive learning environment. Roles may vary depending on the course. The position will work on a schedule established by their supervisor. The CA & Lab Assistant must be able to work independently from written or verbal instructions and work well with instructors.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with classroom instruction.
  • Preparing laboratory materials.
  • Obtaining and distributing course materials.
  • Assist with completing forms in accordance with department procedures; submit reports and other materials as required.
  • Operate office equipment, such as copiers, PCs, and/or phone systems.
  • Work independently and efficiently.
  • May assist with special projects and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work inclusively in a diverse setting.
  • Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate changes in work schedule in advance.
  • Appropriate attire as discussed for the work environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
