Your Role at Cabot

As a Mechanical Planner, you will bring together all the resources (labor, materials, equipment, special tools, etc.) required to accomplish planned jobs in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner to enable continuity of production and minimal equipment downtime. Primary areas will include: preparing job plans and coordinating planned work schedules with production. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner is responsible for planned maintenance work, which incorporates cost, importance, labor, materials, etc. that is required. The planning of the work is to ensure that when the work is scheduled it can be completed with the least interruption to operations and the most efficient use of maintenance resources. Once work has been planned and material availability has been assured, work scheduling can be addressed.

How You Will Make an Impact
    Ensuring the permit to work system and any other safety system (Hot Work, Confined Space, Work at Height, Lifting, Slinging and rigging, Braking Ground etc.) are identified in planning and strictly adhered to.
  • Daily Management of area(s) backlog
  • Maintain 2-4 week complete ready back log that is in alignment with production needs
  • Provides labor and costs estimates
  • Works with area craft and walks the job to develop complete job packages, this include
    • Job plan (work instruction and required safety documentation)
    • Kit content (Parts and Material)
    • Required equipment/special tools
    • Required labor
    • Required permits and drawings
  • Requisitions required parts
  • Proficient utilization of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Completes work orders in the CMMS to facilitate equipment histories
  • Incorporates requested changes/revisions, and/or improvements into the CMMS
  • Closes works orders in the CMMS
  • Uses BOM's and other work instruction to initiate kits
  • Finalizes and communicates weekly Maintenance schedules
  • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Technical field or relevant experience
  • 3 years of maintenance planning and mechanical craft experience in an industrial environment.
  • Good understanding of machinery and troubleshooting skills
  • Working aptitude with CMMS and associated reporting software
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Should have excellent organizational and planning skills and be a recognized leader
  • Reading and math skills are required along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong computer skills a must
  • Incumbent must have initiative and drive and a desire to work in a dynamic team environment.
